A Dozen or So Things We're Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you.  We hope you have a blessed day!

As we gather with family today for food, fellowship, and some fun, we're mindful of how blessed we are and how much we have to be thankful for.  Here are a few excerpts from the leaves on our thankful tree and a couple of others thrown in for good measure:

~ Jacoby is thankful for his school and for math.

~ Morgan is thankful for the world and for ice cream.

~ Daddy is thankful for Greek and for playing.

~ Mommy is thankful for car insurance, Children's Hospital, and running.

~ We're all thankful for each other and for our extended families.

~ Jacoby is thankful that the trees make air and for Star Wars toys.

~ Morgan is thankful for Christmas and his food.

~ We're thankful to be the parents of Jacoby and Morgan.  Despite food allergies, EoE, growing issues, and all the other challenges, they are the absolute best part of our lives and teach us so much each and every day.

A Week in Review

We're coming off of a great weekend and moving right into what appears to be a great week. I am in recovery mode both at work and at home now that the board meeting is over.  It was a successful event, I think, and it was also my 15th meeting!  Fall is moving right along and I can't believe Thanksgiving is right around the corner.  Our thankful tree is filling out nicely, and it's pretty cool to hear what the boys come up with each day.

Here are some pics from the week:

Momo in music class with Miss A., his preschool friends, and drums.  Life doesn't get much better than that for this little boy!

Hanging out with preschool friends.  I'm told they were howling like wolves in this pic.

Here they're measuring shadows.  This tree is approximately 15 pre-kers long.  (:

Jacoby's school served Thanksgiving dinner last week and invited families to join.  So, I went and had lunch with Jacoby.  I got to see what goes down at the peanut-free table.  I did not expect to see so many friends (all of whom can eat peanuts) join him for lunch!  The lunch aid checks all of their lunches to make sure they aren't having pb&j or something like it.  He's going to school with a great bunch of kids...truly warms my heart.

So, last year I basically attended Kingergarten since I was there so much, dealing with all kinds of crazy food projects.  One of the benefits of that was getting to know the kids really well.  These two cutie pies aren't in Jacoby's class this year but they sit with him at lunch a lot.  The one in pink asked me a lot of questions about why Jacoby can't eat peanuts.  By the end of our chat, she had come up with a plan (involving the nurse, the principal, and an ambulance) to take care of Jacoby if he ever were to have a reaction at school.  Awesome.  (:

Daddy, Jacoby, and Morgan pooled their allowance money and bought a football this weekend.  They've enjoyed learning how to throw and have been doing really well...until Justin bounced the ball off of Jacoby's forehead this afternoon.  That might be the end of that.

Jacoby went in for his third upper endoscopy this morning.  He's all bundled up in heated blankets, watching Micky Mouse Clubhouse.  He did great and the nurses and doctors were impressed with his calm demeanor.  And the anesthesiologist even told me he was a fine young man.  I couldn't agree more!

Jacoby wanted to take a picture of me in my silly gown and hat before we went into the surgery room.  He's such a great kid, and I'm so proud of how he manages all of this crazy medical stuff.  The GI doc said all of the tissue looks really good, but we'll have to wait on the biopsy results to see how the Eosinophilic Esophagitis is really doing.  We got to go home earlier than expected, which meant we sort of had a free day together as a family.  And that was really nice!

Turkey Trot

We ran in the 2013 Longmont Turkey Trot this morning!

Justin ran the 10K and the boys and I ran the 2-mile family race.

We had a great time and the boys did a great job.  They probably ran 1 mile out of 2 overall, we did a combination of walking and jogging.  I think we might have a new tradition!

Best part of a race: post-race snack!  They were very excited to receive water bottles and bananas after we crossed the finish line.  It's so fun to be able to do these kinds of activities with them now that they're getting older.

Our thankful tree...we write what we're thankful for everyday on a leaf and add it to our tree.

The boys rode 6 miles on their bikes with Justin last weekend.  They took a break at one of their favorite parks.  Jacoby is a monkey bar master these days.

Momo swinging away.

Hanging out.

Board meeting starts tomorrow for me...I will be so glad when Tuesday at noon rolls around.  Hope you all are doing well!

Halloween 2013

We had a great Halloween.  The day was filled with fun events at school and preschool.  We joined the neighborhood for a small event before Trick or Treating.  It was chilly, so we weren't out very long, which was just fine by us!

Morgan's week started off with a field trip to Sunflower Farm.  We had a great time.  He's giving friend L. a big push on the swing.

We roasted marshmallows at the bonfire...and also tried to get warmed up!

Packing up to go home with our pumpkins

Momo's class also had a fun party

This is Jacoby's class and teacher lining up for the school parade.  Jacoby got a really nice compliment on his costume from Mrs. O.

Ready to go Trick or Treating!

My hat didn't last long, since it was really windy and chilly

Morgan making new friends at the neighborhood party

Jacoby read all of the labels on his candy this year and sorted by himself

They turned most of their candy in for a new Star Wars activity, which is a big hit in this house right now.

It was a good Halloween.  We're just hanging out this weekend and doing our usual:  library, park, church, movie night.  Hope you all have a good weekend!
