Summer - July

Here's what we were up to in July:

We started off with a visit from Grandmanette and Grandpa Michael.

Uncle Jared gave us tickets to Wicked in Denver for Christmas and it was wonderful!

We had really great seats so the boys could see everything.

It was a great afternoon and a fun way to spend the 4th of July!

There is a giant dirt hill in our subdivision where they're building new houses and the boys love to climb and explore.

We visited the Wild Animal Sanctuary and learned about all the animals they rescue.  It was also the furthest east we've ever driven in Colorado!

Jacoby and I spent a day at Children's Hospital so he could do a food challenge with chicken and turkey.  We're thrilled to be able to add these back into our diet!

The boys have been helping out a lot with grocery shopping this summer.

They're getting very proficient at label reading, both for ingredients and nutrition.

We went to a great robot exhibit at the Longmont museum.

Really cool hands-on stuff!

And of course we had to stop by the water feature.

Justin redefined the true purpose of ski goggles when he started wearing them for onion cutting...

I've been working on a few projects around the house, including this little pallet table.

Jacoby finally got to wield a big knife while helping me in the kitchen.  All ten fingers remain in tact.

The boys attended basketball camp.

We liked the program and the boys learned a lot.

I roasted a 20 lb turkey for the first time in five years!

The boys made a special dessert.

Grandpa Bill visited us, so we had a Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate Jacoby's expanded diet and Justin being done with the revisions to the final version of his dissertation.

The boys spent time on the basketball court with Grandpa Bill.

I had a work event at a Rockies Game, and the margaritas were awesome!

Jacoby learned about circuits this month with his Tinker Crate.

I've been running early to beat the heat and the sunrises have been wonderful.  It's the best way to start the day!

We went camping up in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Our campsite was awesome and the boys had great places to explore.

We made ice cream-in-a-bag for a treat, which they enjoyed.

Playing Legos in the tent with their headlamps.  (:

My very favorite people...

We hiked around Bear Lake twice.  It was such a beautiful day!

One tired camper...

The Never Summer Mountain Range.

On our second night, a new family arrived at the camp site next to us.  They had a boy Morgan's age, so they became fast friends.

Morgan and I playing our favorite game in the tent.

Our gourmet camp kitchen!

Lots of elk enjoying the cool up in the high country.

The boys were in a week-long Lego camp, so Jacoby helped me in the kitchen a few times while Morgan was at his camp.  Here he's reaping the benefits of having little brother out of the house for the moment.  (:

And speaking of Legos, the boys finally convinced me that we needed to sort them by color.  I can't believe how many Legos we have!!

We learned the happy news that Aunt Megan and Uncle Mark are going to have twin boys in December.  The boys are very excited about the twins and enjoy filling up boxes with things they're ready to hand off to their baby cousins.

Lots of time at the park this summer!

School starts in two weeks!  I can hardly believe how fast the summer has flown by!
